Olympic Park (closer look)

After work last night, instead of taking the dedicated bus back to the hotel, I decided to walk through the Olympic Park to the Stratford tube station so I could get a better look at some of the venues here.

Here's a better look at the Olympic Stadium:

And another look at the Velodrome:

This is the Basketball venue:

And the Athletes Village:

The Athletes Village is actually quite a bit bigger than shown here, but it is hard to capture all the buildings in one shot. The Village is located right beside the Basketball venue on one side, and the Stratford International station on the other side.

And in between the Stratford International and Stratford tube stations is the Westfield Mall, which is "Europe's largest urban shopping and leisure destination". There are a lot of cool stores and restaurants in this mall.

On either side of the wide bridge walkway from the Olympic Park into the mall, are the Waterpolo and Aquatics venues. I'll try to get good shots of them at a later time.

The walkway from the mall leads right into the center of the Olympic Park right in front of the Olympic Stadium:

I thought I would end this post with one more close up shot of the mystery structure that looks kind of like a vertical roller-coaster:

  1. Aside from the mystery structure, it's interesting to see these venues almost abscent of people...be a nice contrast to get the same shots once the Olympics starts.

    1. Yeah it will be much more crowded later. It's kinda nice to have the freedom to move around and get the shot I want though...

  2. Beautiful shots! It will be interesting to see when it's crowded with people.
